Positive: The location was excellent and we got to see everything we wanted to within the area. The young lad Jurgen (tall with dark hair) is the greatest asset to this family run business. He helped us with our luggage and made sure we were fine. He was very helpful and should be made Manager. We were shown to our room but the shower looked nothing like the photos on Booking, so we managed to change rooms. We were given a room at the back of the guesthouse which was quieter and cooler and the beds were comfortable. The breakfasts were plentiful and it was nice to eat so fresco. We really want this place to succeed and there are plenty of positives. The walk into the centre is fine, just be prepared for a bit of a steep walk back but it is doable if you’re in general good fitness - or catch a cab back. There is a supermarket across the street from the hotel which was very useful.
Negative: The guesthouse needs a lot of care and attention and for the price it isn’t good value at all. We read up the reviews before we booked but on reflection reading them now the majority of the reviews say ‘Exceptional’ which is a bit suspicious. Surely random customers would have put different words in! The rooms are dirty and we found black hairs on the supposedly ‘clean’ sheets. The shower glass screen was cracked and the shower mat was an old doormat which had seen better days. The air-con unit worked but it was old and yellowed from age. But after all that we still had a good time here, but can see why other visitors have really not taken to it at all. One last thing - don’t ask for a receipt when you pay in cash as you won’t get one! We asked many times but didn’t receive one.
