Summary: It's sad to see a hotel with soo much potential be in this state. With a few improvements (starting with guest relations and bathroom renovations) Bay View could very well be a 4 star hotel. In addition, general communications standards need to be improved (e.g not explaining the filter water in the room, not explaining how the locks work but explaining items that did not need elaborating - certainly some things seem obvious in retrospect). The staff are great, friendly and need to be forgiven re: language barrier but may need some training. I read a comment saying they were great but ineffectual - I agree. Sadly, for now, a 3 star rating is generous. Have a look at the sister hotel Bay Samui Resort to form an opinion on the group. That being said, we enjoyed our stay. The hotel is recommended to anyone who doesn't mind the exercise involved in accessing the hotel + rooms and isn't too picky on service or bathrooms.
