Summary: In one word, my stay at the Econo Lodge on the Bay is "Disappointed".
Whoever submitted the photos and the description of this property to Hotels.com, made it look and sound far better than it actually was. They stated that this property was "award winning". They sure fooled me. Based on what I saw and read on the website, I really thought that this property was a significant step-up from the other Econo Lodge properties I've seen over the years. Well, I was wrong.
The minute I walked into the hotel, I smelled the odor of stale cigarette smoke, just like you would years ago before most hotels banned smoking. Looking around the place, it felt like I was going back in time. This feeling was reinforced when I entered my room, which struck me as being small, dark, and outdated (with the exception of the bed, which appeared to be fairly new). By the way, the key to my room didn't work so I went down stairs to the check-in desk and the desk clerk had to reactivate the card and he said there was a problem with the key activation device - sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't. (Note: I was staying there two nights and the next day the same thing happened again. The same clerk was on duty and said don't blame me, I didn't do anything wrong, it's the machine's fault.
The "breakfast" offered was sad - poor selection, poor quality, and some items gone.
The only positives for me were that the hotel was clean and quiet.
My conclusion, I will never stay at an Econo Lodge again.

Summary: I enjoy going into a fellow friend at the front desk from where I was from. It was really neat to see him just relate customer service wise. When I checked in. I felt like I was at home. I got there about 4:00 so it was a gentleman was a beard and he is a very very good worker and I appreciate his hospitality and making sure that I had a accessible room for me and my service dog. I can make short trips these days and even living in Michigan. Sometimes I have to stop and stay and I love staying at you Resort especially with it on the bay what a beautiful area you have. Thank you so much for the hospitality the generosity and kindness that you gave us

Summary: It was ok but nothing spectacular. The rooms were clean save for some hairs in places. The bed, pillows and couch were clean but not comfortable. I asked for a few extra softer pillows but they didn’t have any.
Even though I kept my keys separate, they deprogrammed 3x over my two day stay.
I was also disappointed with the breakfast. I have food allergies and am lactose intolerant and there was no variety, nor were there things I could eat- no alternative milk and nothing really fresh, so if that’s a deterrent for you- take note.
My stay was ok- it could have been better in small ways.

Summary: The room was nice with a view of the lake. It’s older and lacks updates. There were a couple groups in the parking lot and using the waterfront tables - loud talking/music/smoking pot kil until pretty late. It seemed like some patrons were living there. I would say there again- but maybe not with the kids.

Summary: This hotel needs to advertise no elevators as seniors having to bring stuff upstairs. Hotel smelled so bad & carpets old. We almost left but from traveling to tired.

Summary: It was affordable, in a good spot, and the lakefront area in the back is awesome. It was clean and comfortable. Radical.
